Description: Tim Conroy will read from his debut poetry collection. As his late brother Pat Conroy did in his bestselling novels, Tim Conroy likewise confronts raw, at times devastating truths of family history; like Pat, Tim, too, was “the son of a warrior” who also puts a hard-won faith in the sustaining powers of memory and of love. He will read from his first volume, Theologies of Terrain (2017). Pat Conroy was well known for encouraging would-be writers and fostering their careers, a rare trait among established novelists. This extended to Tim’s desire to become a poet. As a result of Pat’s tireless prodding to:

“do something about it,” Tim kept at his poetry and, in 2017, Muddy Ford Press published Theologies of Terrain. His brother would be proud. As Pat Conroy wrote, “the poets of the world occupy a place of high honor in my city of books.”
